2.6 to AJ Strauss, Welegedara has struck, he's removed the England captain, a short of length ball that nipped in, Strauss was coming across the stumps and looking to whip the ball to the leg side, he misses and is struck just above the knee roll, pitching outside off and hit him in front of middle, replays show that was going on to hit the top of middle and leg, Strauss ponders asking for the referral, but then decides against it, and Sri Lanka have made an early breakthrough. 5/1
39.5 to IR Bell, edged! Straight to Paranavitana at first slip. Finally the edge carries off Bell's bat. Once again, Welegedara got the ball to leave the batsman off the pitch, and the line was such that he had to play at this one. Good bowling, and Bell's stay is cut short at 52. That'll lift Sri Lanka. 130/4
96.1 to SCJ Broad, gone! Finally a breakthrough. Broad plays across a straight ball and that's stone dead. Much like Strauss yesterday he fell across the shot slightly. He asked Prior about using a review but was told how out it was.. 410/7
96.6 to GP Swann, gone! Sri Lanka take a catch at slip although the keeper almost messed it up. Well bowled by Welegedara from round the wicket, Swann pushed hard outside off and Paranavitana held on despite the keeper diving in front of him.. 414/8
25212635.049719010
5.4 to IJL Trott, is it an early end for the run-machine? we have a referral, yup, Trott's gone, that was pitching just short of a length around off stump, no great movement, Trott looks to clip it to the leg side, he misses and is struck just below the knee roll in front of middle, replays show it was going on to hit leg, Dilshan will be delighted after all the questioning over the decision to bowl. 18/2
7.5 to KP Pietersen, England are three down, Pietersen is gone to an athletic catch from Dilshan at gully, length ball outside off, moves away a touch and Pietersen was reaching for that one, gets the outside edge which flies towards Dilshan, who flings himself to his right to pouch that. 22/3
81.1 to EJG Morgan, appeal first ball! Morgan is struck on the pad, Lakmal is convinced, but the umpire says no ... hang on, they're going to review this. That's taking leg stump out of the ground, and Morgan is out! It pitched in line, moved enough to beat the bat but not enough to take it down the leg side.. 302/6
1755703.35849015
1727714.527014000
61.2 to AN Cook, and there's the wicket, the inevitable Cook century is not to be, it was a shortish ball, Cook went for an adventurous pull, top-edges it towards mid-on where Maharoof takes the catch, he is a dejected man, at least no one can argue that he was playing for the milestone. 201/5
18.516423.39765100
104.3 to MJ Prior, finally, Sri Lanka have removed Prior. He swipes across the line at a straight one from Herath, a real slog sweep, but misses it completely and the ball clatters into off stump. Prior exits to standing applause, he's done really well to guide England past 450. 452/9
112.5 to ST Finn, and that's that! Finn was having a go before lunch, and though he played some good shots it was only a matter of time before this happened. He swings, head high, right across the line and is clean bowled. Herath has his second, and England are all out for 486. 486/10

114.6 to MF Maharoof, Maharoof thinks about a review, he had taken one in the second innings at Cardiff, he doesn't thins time after a chat with the non-striker, Broad has struck, that one comes in a long way after pitching just short of a length and outside off, the ball ducked in too quickly for Maharoof, strikes him on the pad way before the bat comes down, hit in front of off and that was going on to hit middle, somewhere near the top, reviewing that would have been a waste. 409/6
3088522.831378101
80.4 to KC Sangakkara, the new ball has done the job, Sangakkara nibbles a length ball angling across him, he pushes at it off the front foot and the outside edge results in an easy catch for Prior, that was a good line from Tremlett, passed the batsman just outside off, making him play, Sangakkara's poor Test record in England continues. 288/2
109.1 to TT Samaraweera, and another wicket for England, not the wisest shot from Samaraweera, who wafts outside off without any footwork, it was slightly overpitched and outside off from Tremlett, a thin edge through to the keeper, two specialist batsmen removed, England will start thinking about a first-innings lead now. 394/5
33810843.2715614031
53.5 to NT Paranavitana, the stand is broken! Paranavitana's patience and concentration is finally broken as he flashes a flat-batted drive at a full, wide ball and edges straight to Strauss at first slip. He's given it away and he knows it, walking off with head bowed. Still, take nothing away from his contribution to an opening partnership that has brought Sri Lanka right back into this game. 207/1
98.2 to TM Dilshan, gone! There won't be any double today. Finn pitches full, it nips back at Dilshan takes some edge and top of leg into the stumps. Dilshan had been struggling with thumb for the last 15 minutes or so, but it has been a fantastic innings and he gets a standing ovation. 370/3
108.5 to DPMD Jayawardene, no third Lord's century for Jayawardene, England have their first wicket of the day, Finn gets the outside edge, this time for Jayawardene it doesn't fly past slip, finds Cook at third slip, who latches on to it, the third wicket for Finn, Jayawardene was caught on the crease there, initially moving forward and then getting back. 394/4
128.1 to HAPW Jayawardene, gone, edged to Swann in the slips! Well, Finn has been wayward but he keeps bowling wicket-taking deliveries. This was a good one, pitched up to the bat and drawing the batsman half forward. It just left him off the pitch, taking a healthy edge and flying at a nice height to Swann's left. 472/8
32.4510133.091427300
127.1 to HMRKB Herath, gone! One shot too many for Herath. Swann looped one up on middle, Herath charged out and aimed for the heavens above midwicket but missed completely. Prior does the rest, an easy stumping. 466/7
129.3 to CRD Fernando, well, what a catch! Swann finds the edge of the bat and the ball flies to Strauss's left at slip, he just sticks his hand out and is as surprised as anyone to find the ball in it. A real reaction catch, but taken cleanly. Good effort, and Sri Lanka lose another. It's worth mentioning that Strauss doesn't usually field at slip to the spinner. 472/9
131.4 to UWMBCA Welegedara, Swann ends the innings! He flighted another one, Welegedara had another go, this time aiming down the ground. But Broad had been placed at a deep mid-on and the ball looped right to him. England secure a lead of 7 runs. 479/10

0.2 to AJ Strauss, gone! Or is it? Strauss is rapped on the pads, it looked plumb but he's going to review it. Well, that's hit him right in front of middle, total waste of the review. Another outswinger from Welegedara to the left-hander, squaring him up and hitting him on the back pad adjacent to the stumps.. 0/1

702403.42293002

74.5 to EJG Morgan, Morgan comes and goes in the blink of an eye. He was trying to push things on, Fernando sent down a slower ball and he was completely deceived, playing far too early to present an easy chance to Lakmal at cover. You can't really fault the batsman there, he was playing for the declaration that appears to be coming soon, but great skill shown by Fernando too to pick up his first wicket of the innings. 312/5
78.1 to SCJ Broad, Broad backs away to leg and throws himself into an ungainly swish, but manages only to get an edge on another really good split-finger slower ball from Fernando. Good work from Prasanna too, diving forward to take the catch. 335/7
2428733.62939000
25.4 to IJL Trott, got him! Again it's the flight that troubles Trott, this time he steps forward and drives over the top of a looping, dipping delivery on middle stump. Herath pumps his fist in celebration, and well he might after removing a batsman as obdurate as Trott with his 4th delivery of the innings .... 117/2
65.3 to KP Pietersen, Herath has got him, KP is gone, start the wailing, that was a terrific delivery though, pitching well outside leg stump, and KP gets forward and half-heartedly tries to defend it, but that turns sharply and goes on to hit off stump, KP was initially looking to pad that away, then decided to play at it, big turn that for Herath. 244/3
73.6 to AN Cook, now, this time he may be stumped. Again Cook used his feet to come down, Herath looped down something of an arm-ball that held its line to beat Cook's outside edge. It was quite wide so Prasanna had to reach right across and then move back to the stumps ... Well, this is really tight. After an absolute age, third umpire Aleem Dar decides that he's seen enough to give Cook out. His bat was on the line, and it was mighty close. He's reached an 18th Test century, and leaves the field to a standing ovation. 305/4

4.2 to KC Sangakkara, wicket, a big one, a poor shot from Sangakkara, a nothing ball from Tremlett, short and wide, friendly stuff from Tremlett, and Sangakara chops that to Morgan at backward point, he could have smashed that anywhere he wanted. 13/1
922913.22425010
22.3 to DPMD Jayawardene, I'd just been praising his drive, but now he's paid the price for having another go! Full, swinging away and edged, and Pietersen tumbles to his left at fourth slip to hold a quality catch. Now, can England use this breakthrough to get into Sri Lanka's middle order?. 66/2

32.3 to NT Paranavitana, another review , has the Trott move worked? big appeal for lbw that Tucker upholds, slightly overpitched on middle, Paranavitana looks to defend down the track, he misses and is struck low on the front pad before it hits his bat, no doubt that was going on to hit, Paranavitana defiance is over. 96/3
