34.6 to AN Cook, swinging away, snicks the edge and Watling takes a brilliant diving catch! Cook's a goner! Boult gets his man, and with only two added to his score since the lbw appeal. The conditions have just tipped back towards the bowling side at Lord's and Boult exploited the atmospherics adroitly, nipping the ball away on that in-between length - though it needed an excellent low take from the keeper to complete the dismissal and send Cook back. 67/2
53.5 to IJL Trott, oh what a cracker, edged and a superb catch at third slip. That is angled in towards Trott's middle and leg stumps, he's gone back to block but it has suddenly left him and taken a thick outside edge that is quite brilliantly held by a diving Brownlie, getting across wonderfully well to take it inches from the ground. 112/3
28.285842.041404000
95.3 to JE Root, full ball down the leg side, a cry for a strange and given out caught behind. Stinker of a dismissal from Root's point of view but Southee is delighted to get the breakthrough. It was a full ball slid into the batsman's bat, Root went to flick it away and got a thin edge that was well held from Watling diving with two hands to his left. 192/5
95.4 to MJ Prior, inswinger, a top delivery, catches Prior on the pad and given out lbw. Comes back and beats Prior's inside edge, caught him on the knee roll, no inside edge, is it sliding down? No it's catching the top of leg stump, Prior goes and Southee has his 200th wicket in international cricket. 192/6
110.1 to ST Finn, this time it is a wicket! Southee pitches it further up from wide of the crease, the batsman tries to flick it to the on side, but he played outside the line and that would have crashed on the middle and leg stump. Wicket no. 3 for Southee. 221/9
112.2 to JM Bairstow, oye! What a catch! Southee takes No. 4. This was fuller on off stump and Bairstow thumps it back towards the bowler with a lot of power. Southee had barely a fraction of a second to react and he does well as he hold on to this waist high catch to his left. 232/10
2887032.501407022
78.2 to IR Bell, sliding across the right-hander and Bell follows it and nicks off. Bell should have left it but Wagner is rewarded for changing his line of attack and has eventually got Bell to nibble outside off stump, what a blow for New Zealand just before the second new ball. Regulation length delivery, a long way outside off and Bell should have been nowhere near it but reached across and edged it. 157/4
96.2 to SCJ Broad, full, straight and swinging and Broad is plumb lbw. It wasn't right up there in the blockhole but the length and hint of away swing was too much for Broad who played right across it. Well bowled Wagner, similar to the delivery that got Kevin Pietersen in Dunedin. 195/7
98.1 to GP Swann, length just outside off, thin edge and taken! Tight line, Swann forced to play at it and got a thin edge through to Watling who gleefully accepted a straightforward chance. It shaped to come back into the right-hander but left him slightly down the hill to catch a thin outside edge, well bowled again. 201/8
26123811.461403001
22.1 to NRD Compton, floated up outside off and Compton comes down the track, tries to go over the in-field and gets a wild outside edge that loops to point. That's what pressure does. Compton comes down the wicket to try and snap this run of dot balls but in trying a lofted off-drive has perished. Good running catch from Southee going to his right and diving forward. 43/1

0.6 to HD Rutherford, edged and gone! caught at first slip! This one had a lot of movement and there wasn't much the batsman could have done about it. It pitched short of length around leg stump, then starts swinging away. Rutherford tries hard to defend that, but he is squared up a bit by the movement. The ball takes a fine edge and Cook does well to dive to his right and take a good low catch. 5/1
6.4 to PG Fulton, thick outside edge and taken at second slip and that is 300 Test wickets for James Anderson, well bowled sir. A decent delivery that had Fulton probing slightly just outside the off stump, probably didn't get forward enough, and edged it to Swann who claimed a good catch low down with two hands. 7/2
31.2 to LRPL Taylor, the finger goes up straightaway! It was a fuller length delivery angling in from the bowler, Taylor went back and across and played outside the line of that and was hit right in front of the middle. Aleem Dar was ready with his signal the moment Anderson turned around in his appeal... 100/3
59.5 to KS Williamson, and a lucky strike for Anderson as Williamson tickles it down the leg side! Easy catch for Prior and New Zealand's main man is gone. No. 4 for Anderson. 177/6
63.4 to BP Martin, bowled him, that's a ripper! Top of off stump and Martin had no clue how to play that! Anderson has another five-for at Lord's, he holds up the ball to the crowd. It was pitched on a length, just moved away a touch after successive in-duckers and rattled the off pole right on the forehead. 195/8
2146413.0410211002
50.2 to BB McCullum, a wicket in the first over! It was a fuller length delivery outside off and immediately the batsman comes forward to play the drive through off, the ball seams away and everyone goes up in an appeal. But the batsman takes ages, he discusses it with his partner about a review and asks for it. A bad review in the end as the Hot-spot shows the edge. 155/5
1536344.206611001
44.6 to DG Brownlie, very full and slaps the pad, must have hit this or he is gone, not out given but England review. No bat but the ball hit two pads, is it in line? Yes it is! Brownlie goes and England strike again just when they needed to and a nice straight full ball has done the trick, Brownlie getting too far across the stumps and was caught below the knee roll in front of middle and leg, the ball going on, according to Hawk Eye, to strike the leg stump plumb. 147/4
62.6 to TG Southee, short of length outside off, he tries to whack it straight down the ground with a horizontal bat short, gets a thick top edge that goes high and is swallowed by Root at cover. 194/7
68.2 to BJ Watling, swishes lazily and was there a feather? Yes, says Steve Davis! That delivery wasn't a drivable length but Watling was in the mood to play Lewis Hamilton (maybe Mark Webber?) and threw the hands, there wasn't an audible nick but the umpire's finger went up straight away as England celebrated and Watling, though looking a little puzzled, elects not to review and trudges off. 207/9
68.6 to TA Boult, banged in again, Boult merely fends this from in front of his face and it loops gently to Anderson in the gully. That's the plate licked clean, then, Finn claiming four-for - this is why he's always useful, even when not really firing - and England have garnered a useful, perhaps unlikely, 25-run lead on first innings. 207/10

8.4 to AN Cook, caught at third slip! Super catching at slip, absolutely no doubt about this one, it's Dean Brownlie who dives to his left, gets both hands to it and lands with a smile on his face.. It was full, it was wide, it was swinging away. Another day, Cook would have left that alone, but he went after it this time and got a thick edge. 36/1
1945062.63904000
49.6 to JE Root, inside edge and bowled him! Middle stump lies flat on its back - there is a chink in Root's youthful armour plating after all. Southee has been indefatigable with the ball in hand in this game and his persistence pays off, maybe aided by a slightly tired defensive stroke but the scrambled seam brought it back enough and the bat came down late to deflect it through the castle gate. 159/3
53.1 to JM Bairstow, full, straight and bowled him! Another timber trembler from Southee, yorking YJB via his front foot, the ball clattering into the stumps and making a right old mess! Lovely bowling to Bairstow, who's not the best starter, he tried to play to leg and was beaten for pace. 167/4
55.4 to MJ Prior, dug in short, Prior rocks back to pull ... and picks out square leg! Southee has three in 16 deliveries and Prior collects a pair! Quite different to Southee's usual MO, this time the bumper works, Prior seemed ready but it just climbed on him, came off the splice and sailed to the substitute, Martin Guptill, moving to his right. The wobble is on!. 171/5
59.5 to ST Finn, outside edge and gone, the nightwatchman lasts two deliveries as he is taken at second slip, solid low catch from the sub Guptill. Length ball that moved away just a little, Finn played forward and got a healthy nick, slightly low on the bat, but enough for it to carry through to the fielder. 183/7
63.2 to IR Bell, full and driven at outside off, edged and taken at third slip! Five-for for Tim Southee, superb effort and Brownlie takes another catch. Exactly what is required on the wicket at this ground, full deliveries with a little movement, Southee has produced another, Bell has been tempted into coming out to drive at it and got a thick edge that was well taken again by the cordon. 200/8
67.3 to GP Swann, length outside off, Swann drives and edges to the keeper Southee does it again, he's got six and England are nine down. How many wickets have we seen with players driving outside off? This is a bit of a speculative waft and it's a very thin edge through to McCullum who makes no mistake. 210/9
1324413.38575011
9.5 to NRD Compton, corker! Jaffa! After making him complacent with a few wide outside off, Wagner throws this one full and on off stump, it shapes back in and hits the off stump, sends it cartwheeling a few meters back. Compton was a touch slow to come forward after leaving the last few alone. 36/2
1324003.07614001
8.322022.35370000
56.2 to IJL Trott, tossed up, spins back through the gate and they've got another! BIG turn for Williamson out of the rough, possibly a hint of inside edge as Trott tried to drive, the ball clattering into the top of middle - England have lost four for 12 in a little over six overs!. 171/6
68.3 to JM Anderson, driven in the air and taken at cover point, just popped up for the simplest of chances. Poor stroke trying to drive out of the rough, didn't get in a great position to play the stroke anyway and it was a very simple chance to Southee. 213/10

10.4 to DG Brownlie, this one holds its line and Brownlie nicks off! One in, one out and New Zealand are being shaken all about, caught between the jaws of Anderson and Broad. There wasn't much footwork from Brownlie but the previous delivery, which bent back at him like a homing missile, must have been on his mind, this one held its line on a length and he could only poke it to slip. 25/5
18.4 to BJ Watling, edged and taken by Trott.. 54/8
1104474.00497100
1.3 to PG Fulton, and this is a major victory, a leaden-footed Fulton poking at a very similar ball to tickle an edge through to Prior! England land the first blow, in this bar-room brawl of a match - Broad pitched it back of a length and wide of the stumps, Fulton had all day to size it up, never any need to play at the ball, but he was lulled in, seduced by some irresistible urge and now the lulz are on him. 1/1
5.1 to HD Rutherford, jags from leg to off and Rutherford loses his off pole! Brilliant bowling from Broad and both openers are back in the pavilion! He rolled his fingers over the ball, Rutherford should have been forward but he got squared up and played down the Bakerloo line ... NZ may have been worried about Anderson but Broad is threatening to run amok. 16/2
5.3 to LRPL Taylor, edged and Cook scoops it up with his fingers brushing the blades of grass, two in three balls for Broad and New Zealand are reeling, three men down! It was a decent delivery shaping away outside off, again it could probably have been left but Taylor pushed at it with hard hands and the ball flew low to first slip, where Cook locked both hands tightly around it before rolling and jumping up with a great big grin on his face. 16/3
9.4 to KS Williamson, full and wide and inviting the drive - and Williamson has chipped straight to cover! Finn was so surprised by that he fell on his backside. Woeful shot, given the situation, and completely unexpected, given the batsman. There are 15 minutes until lunch, NZ are four down and Broad has taken all of them. 21/4
11.4 to BB McCullum, full and this time coming back, McCullum's on the walk and hit on the front pad! Steve Davis gives it but the batsman reviews, as he had to, New Zealand's most dangerous player, the only man who can realistically win this for them ... but Hawk Eye deems it to be in line and will stay as the on-field call, Broad has five and McCullum is gone! It was fractional, looked like McCullum might have just got outside the line, but no. Memories of Cape Town come flooding back for this fragile line-up as the players go off for lunch with New Zealand 29 for 6 and still needing 210 for victory. 29/6
15.2 to TG Southee, but the drop it doesn't matter because Southee has pulled the next ball - a short one - to Joe Root who takes the catch in front of the grandstand. Took a few steps to his left hand side and took it solidly with two hands. 41/7
21.6 to BP Martin, full and straight, Martin clears the front leg and eyes glory in a swipe down the ground but is comprehensively cleaned up and the stump mic is uprooted. Broad finally gets one right on the money, Martin fancied a heave and missed completely. 67/9
