An Australian Under-19 player at the 2000 World Cup, Glen Batticciotto took a while to transfer his junior deeds to senior level. He was called into the top state side last season and appeared in four FR Cup games and six Twenty20 fixtures, with a one-day high of 54 not out. While he showed promising signs with the bat, his most memorable moment was a diving catch off David Warner in a Twenty20 at the Gabba.

An outstanding 2007-08 grade season of 741 runs at 67.36 for Sandgate-Redcliffe won him the Peter Burge Medal and was also responsible for a Queensland contract and a spot in the QAS team. Batticciotto, a left-handed batsman, picked up a half-century on debut for the QAS before heading to England for another off-season. The son of a Sicilian father and English mother, Batticciotto was a useful soccer player before focusing on cricket.
