A beared seam bowler from Pontarddulais, Lukas Carey followed the well-trodded path through Wales age-group teams and the Glamorgan academy before making his first-class debut as a 19 year old against Northants at Swansea in 2016.

After an impressive run to end that season, Carey won the club's young player of the year award in 2017 after starring with 35 wickets in the Championship, while also making his debuts in 50-over and 20-over cricket.

2018 was a lean year, with just 13 wickets in six Championship games, while 2019 proved similarly underwhelming, though he looks set to lead the Glamorgan attack once Michael Hogan retires.
