Nooshin Al Khadeer has been a regular member of the Indian team since her debut in 2002. An economical bowler who bowls a tight line and length she has consistently performed well for her country and in 2003 she was ranked No. 1 in the world, as the leading wicket-taker. Her economy rate in the 2005 World Cup in South Africa was 3.05, and she was integral in helping India into the final, where they lost to Australia. Khadeer was six short of the 100-wicket landmark in ODIs at the start of the Quadrangular tournament in February-March 2007 in Chennai but after five games she was tied with Jhulan Goswami, the Indian fast bowler, at 96, second only to Neetu David as highest Indian women wicket-takers. However she was left out of the Indian squad for their next two series - the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and the tour of England - and will have to wait to reach the milestone during the ODIs in Australia in October-November 2008.
