Sadashiv Ganpatrao Shinde, who died in Bombay on June 22, aged 31, played in seven Test Matches for India between 1946 and 1952. A slow leg-break and googly bowler, he toured England in 1946 and 1952 without much success. His best performance in a Test match was in the first England innings at New Delhi in 1951-52, when he took six wickets for 91 runs.
Wisden Cricketers' Almanack

In a short career spanning seven Tests, Shinde had one really fine performance when he took 6 for 91 off 35.3 overs in England's first innings at New Delhi in 1951-52. His mixture of leg spinners and googlies puzzled most of the batsmen. But in his other Tests he was less successful. Also his manner of bowling meant that he tended to be expensive, which explains his career average of nearly 60. Tall and rather frail in appearance, Shinde toured England in 1946 and 1952 and also played at home against West Indies in 1948-49, besides the series against England. He died suddenly following an attack of typhoid. The illness cut short his first-class career during which he claimed 230 wickets (32.59).
