Burke's career highlight came with Australia Under-19 selection and he finished the age-group's 2001-02 World Cup with an unbeaten century against South Africa as Australia won the title. An Academy graduate in 2002, he captained New South Wales to the Under-19 Australian Championships victory the previous summer.
