8.6 to WU Tharanga, finally Harmison gets what he deserves. Tharanga had been pinned down by good bowling and tight fielding and pushed onto the back foot, and Harmison pitched one slightly fuller which he edged low to Marcus Trescothick at first slip who took a fairly comfortable two-handed catch.. 34/1
42.3 to ST Jayasuriya, and there it is. Shorter from Harmison, a typical bellicose smear into the off side, and Tim Bresnan at deep cover takes a superb tumbling catch to end a brilliant innings. 259/3
48.1 to RP Arnold, It has been Harmy's on the other hand. Full length, flicked to midwicket where the skipper leads by example. 304/7
805807.25218020
603816.33195040
45.4 to TM Dilshan, and another breakthrough. Dilshan getting too ambitious, steps across his stumps for a tickled sweep to fine leg, but instead is bowled round his legs. 283/4
7080211.42149341
47.2 to KC Sangakkara, ... but Mahmood gets it right this time. Off-stump again, another big swish but too much hang-time. Pietersen at deep long-on takes a fine tumbling catch. England's cricket has been better the further they get from the centre of the pitch. 298/5
49.4 to WPUJC Vaas, and it just gets better and better, as Vaas heaves ambitiously, and Jones snaffles the snick. That will soothe Mahmood's pain ... but not a lot. 317/8

1.2 to ME Trescothick, slashed on the up straight to backward point. The problem was that he was leaning back rather than over the ball and that’s why it went in the air.. 10/1
19.4 to IR Bell, oh dear, that's the breakthrough. A muffed pull spirals into no-man's land on the leg-side, and Muralitharan runs round to complete a fine catch over his shoulder. A pity, because he was starting to warm to his task out there. 116/3
703915.57226001
9.4 to AJ Strauss, Oops. Strauss tries to hit over the top but it was a tad too short and he only succeeded in skying the ball to mid off. Enter Pietersen. England expects …. 48/2
504008.0092111
9.405115.27272210
42.2 to GO Jones, only momentarily mind. Next ball, Jones aims to sweep, the ball loops off his pad, conceivably brushes the glove, and is routinely snatched by Sangakkara behind the stumps. Jones, one senses, is not best pleased with that decision. 235/6
905135.66193010
31.5 to KP Pietersen, and that could be a game-breaker. Massive breakthrough for Sri Lanka, and it's not the spinner that everyone assumed would make the difference. Big rip out of the leg-side rough, Pietersen aimed a smear through midwicket, well beaten. 176/4
39.5 to PD Collingwood, and that might be that, as Colly misses and loses his middle stump. Quicker and flatter from Jayasuriya, and buzzed through his aggressive stroke. Big breakthrough from an under-rated bowler, and Sri Lanka are all but 2-0 up. 222/5
43.6 to JWM Dalrymple, got im! And there's that quicker ball again. Up near 60mph, which is brisk for a spinner, and Dalrymple is stranded a mile out of his crease. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted, and another good performance from England's new boy. 253/7
