His career was disrupted by a knee injury which cost him nearly two seasons, starting June 2009. The 2011-12 season was his most productive, as he topped the overall run charts in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy division one with 1088 runs at 54.40. He is one of the few players from the town of Mirpur in Azad Kashmir to play first-class cricket. He moved one step closer to playing Test cricket after being picked to tour Sri Lanka in 2012.
