Billy Taylor started his first-class career at Sussex in 1999 - by then he was already a regular for Wiltshire in Minor Counties cricket - where he gradually established himself in the side before moving to Hampshire in 2004. He was awarded his county cap in 2006 but he increasingly became a one-day specialist, with only one Championship appearance between 2007 and 2009. He took two hat-tricks, the second, for Hampshire against Middlesex on his way to a career-best 6 for 32, being the first at the Rose Bowl.
