62.6 to D Elgar, that is it! Lakmal has done it. All that patience has paid. He was bowling tight, getting the ball to move just enough and this time Elgar got sucked into playing one that looked like coming in, but straightened to take the outside edge to the keeper. He could have left that one really, but you can't fault a man in form. That is purely good bowling from Lakmal. 195/2
89.6 to AB de Villiers, that's a beaut! Lakmal has put Sri Lanka ahead! The curse of our followers has struck, they've been screaming South Africa have been going too slow all day. This time the bowler strikes a fuller length and gets the new cherry to jag back late, snare AB's inside edge and clatter into the stumps.. 266/5
99.3 to DW Steyn, knocked him over! Goes full, goes straight and Steyn was slow on the draw. This one was angled, and tailed in too and Steyn must have been softened up by those two short balls. His defence was easily breached and Lakmal does it again. 290/6
943203.55436000
601214812.4627914200
73.4 to HM Amla, he's gifted a wicket to Sri Lanka! Herath teases him with flight, Amla thinks he can whack him through extra cover but the slower pace messes with his timing and the South Africa captain has to walk back. Except for that unbelievable flick, he did not look cozy out there. 220/3
1113613.27475000
138.5 to VD Philander, opts for the inswinger this time and Philander is caught in the crease and gets rapped on the pads. Mathews erupts in appeal and gets the raised finger. Struck on the back foot and it hit him a touch high, but Hawk-Eye goes with umpire's call. 389/8
53.2816243.0323015200
16.5 to AN Petersen, huge shout, prolonged shout and Kettleborough has sent him on his way. But Peterson has asked for a second opinion. This was on a good length and the batsman went back, hoping to clip it through square leg. It was the straighter one as well, strikes him around middle and leg. Hawk-Eye reveals it would be umpire's call by clipping leg stump. Looked a lot closer than that to the naked eye. 70/1
82.3 to F du Plessis, taken, short leg in play again after stopping the single the last ball! Gets down the pitch, but Dilruwan has spotted him coming and shortened his length. The ball grips and turns just that little inch to take the inside edge, take the pad on the way to Kaushal Silva who claims a smart grab. Faf was tiring out there. 246/4
108.5 to Q de Kock, what a ripper! This turns from outside leg to snare the edge of a closed face and Mahela makes a lovely snap. That's the dream for an offspinner, you know aside from hitting top of off and stumping a batsman. De Kock's done well, how much can SA's lower order contribute now?. 314/7
166.2 to M Morkel, loses his patience! He took Duminy to a century and then went for a wild hoick and loses his off stump. And looks like South Africa have declared. 455/9

16.3 to JK Silva, taken! That's a spectacular catch at long leg! He's been bounced out! That's a rare break in concentration for Kaushal who was drawn into hooking a bouncer, an immensely well-directed one, which lifted a lot more than the batsmen expected. Took the top edge and sailed down where Philander raced in, dived forward and plucked a lovely, low catch. 39/1
35.6 to DPMD Jayawardene, Mahela is pondering, he's asking his partner if he should go up to the third ump and so he does. But this looks plumb, unless there is an inside edge. Terrific ball from Steyn, Mahela had been defending a little nervously and this one is seriously full. Almost a yorker and the batsman was a little late in getting his bat down. Also sought to clip through midwicket and Billy lifts the crooked finger. Hawk-Eye agrees with him and Sri Lanka's two big guns are back in the shed. 104/3
71.1 to HDRL Thirimanne, chases after the wide one, that happened the last Steyn over as well and he was lucky not to edge it. This time he's not so lucky. Steyn has a smile from one ear to another as he is mobbed by his team-mates. That's a big strike, and he got it off the perfect sucker ball. Full and swinging away outside off. The bait was set, Thirimanne pounced at it and has to walk back. 190/5
73.4 to LD Chandimal, short again and he has picked out short midwicket! What a terrible way to get out, especially with his side in such trouble. Rocks back and nailed it, but he hasn't bothered to keep it down. Steyn is spurring South Africa into a very strong position. More fuel for the people who say Chandimal plays too many and unnecessary shots too early in the innings. 200/6
75.3 to MDK Perera, five for Steyn! You absolute beauty! Points to the dressing room where Allan Donald is clapping heartily! This one was on a good length and reverses in, Dilruwan poked out with bat well away from pad. The inside edge sneaks through and South Africa celebrate. 201/7
1563102.06785001
18.584932.60958020
31.6 to KC Sangakkara, dragged on! Morkel's short-ball attack has worked! This wasn't the best one Morkel has used to test the middle of the pitch. Sanga was right in going for the pull, but only manages an inside edge and hears the death rattle. Grimaces wildly and looks to hammer the bat into the turf in disgust. Very soft dismissal there. 98/2
99.6 to RAS Lakmal, he swings merrily at a length ball, nicks it through to the keeper and South Africa have a wicket off the final ball of the day! He goes up for a review straight away, but this one seems to be a bad choice. There was a noise and there is not enough evidence to overturn the on-field ump's decision. Not the best ball from Morkel, but South Africa are now one wicket away from batting again. But that will be for tomorrow. 283/9
104.5 to HMRKB Herath, AB, take a bow! He has pulled off a stunner at second slip! The ball had passed him, but he just would not give. Dives to his left and plucks it out of thin air. That edge was travelling too at Morkel's pace, Herath was tryin to steer it away to pick up that single but has to walk back. AB tests his fingers as he leaves, but South Africa now have a lead of 163.. 292/10
2657512.8812110100
94.6 to AD Mathews, goes for a slog sweep and the ball sneaks under his bat to clatter into his stumps. Tahir is over the moon. Gets a pat on the back from Herath, but walks off shaking his head. Wonderful innings from Mathews. Missed out on three successive tons in three Tests. 272/8
1544713.13717100
42.4 to WU Tharanga, that's a beauty! Tharanga was lurching down the track and Duminy has foxed him in the flight! Wheels away in celebration and leaps onto Faf's arms. he adjusted the flight, got some turn off this dry Galle track and even as the batsman tried to push his body outside off to cover the line, he ends up groping and has to walk back. I shall never again call him a non-regular spinner. 136/4

11.5 to D Elgar, he's got him! Elgar goes for a booming drive through the covers, but the ball dips, catches the rough and turns across the middle to take the inside edge and Chandimal holds onto a lovely catch. Had to stay low. That's drinks by the way. 33/1
37.4 to F du Plessis, what a strike! Pitched outside leg, bites into the pitch and crashes into off stump. Faf looks back in disbelief! He had looked to have it covered as he went back to block, but might have been better served kicking it away. But this was a booming turner from the rough, and a big puff of dust came out too. Good way for the hosts to take drinks. 131/4
19.217944.08718000
19.6 to AN Petersen, that's a ripper and Billy agrees it deserves a wicket. Petersen walks down to his partner to discuss things and then goes for the review. Good length ball draws the batsman forward, it pitches but doesn't turn. That's what foils the strong stride forward from Petersen to defend. Confident appeal from the Sri Lankans. The finger went up rather late as well. Replays aren't exactly conclusive enough and the decision stands. Much to Petersen's chagrin, walks off not too pleased. He did slam the toe of the bat down into the pitch while defending which created a noise. 54/2
27.5 to HM Amla, caught at short mid-on! That's a feather in the cap for the Sri Lanka captain and Dilruwan has bowled perfectly to plan. Looped it up slow around the off stump and got enough dip to make Hash mistime his flick. The ball lobs up to Tharanga who dives to his left and completes a smart take. 88/3
46.4 to AB de Villiers, too much innovation from AB and his stumps are rattled! Good length ball forced him deep into his crease as he opened himself up to clip through square leg, but the ball scoots on to clip the pads and sneak through the gap. Raises his bat as he walks off. Top class innings. 193/5
50.2 to Q de Kock, he's lobbed a return catch! Beaten in the flight as he goes for a drive, went into it too early and hands a simple grab. That will be tea. 206/6

2.4 to WU Tharanga, nicks off! The strength becomes a weakness, as it has happened before. This was full and teasing outside off, Tharanga couldn't help throwing his bat at it and looks back in horror as QdK dives to his left and clings on. 14/1
35.5 to JK Silva, how many times has he done it? Gets some help from the keeper who pulls off a stunner and South Africa have the breakthrough they desperately wanted. This was the perfect length, got the batsmen forward to poke and this time it nips in and snares the edge. Flies to QdK's right and he is up for it. Flings out a hand and pouches it nicely. 118/2
53.1 to HDRL Thirimanne, caught in the cordon! Thirimanne's open face hurts him again! This was on a good length and curls away late to fool the batsman who went for a poor on the up drive. AB does the rest, good low catch.. 153/5
57.3 to MDK Perera, has Steyn found another bunny? This time he snares the outside edge of Dilruwan and erupts! Angled in on a good length and the ball held it's line. Had to be played at and the outside edge was the best he could do. De Kock has another catch, how many is he going to finish with after this Test?. 161/7

46.1 to DPMD Jayawardene, but they'll have to do it without Mahela! What a corker! Goes full, he so often doesn't and because of that the batsman has to come forward, has to push at it. Morkel got it to hold it's line just enough to fetch the outside edge and QdK does the rest. What a start after drinks!. 138/3
54.3 to LD Chandimal, nicked off pulling, has he? We won't know yet because Chandimal goes for the review straight away. This definitely took the left sleeve on the way to the keeper, but has it taken the glove before that? Good ball though, banged in and the line is much better. Attacking the batsman's ears. Glove and then shirt says Billy who gave it out. Down comes the information and it is in South Africa's favour.. 158/6
71.2 to RAS Lakmal, take at long leg! Short ball, a little off line and Lakmal sought to help it away but doesn't keep it down. Tahir is the man down there, takes it and rests on the ground. Mathews stays out there, which means.... 216/9
71.3 to RMS Eranga, bounced out! South Africa go 1-0! This was short and nasty, Eranga couldn't duck under it or weave away, fends it away and short leg picks up an easy catch after skipping a few steps behind square. 216/10
1936403.36837200
1043823.80434100
50.1 to KC Sangakkara, he stands, he chews his gum, he stares at the pitch. He just can't believe what he has done! Galle is silent after they watch the worst ball Duminy would ever bowl turn the Test around. Rank long hop, should have been blasted through the off side because there was so much width, but Sanga decides to pull and hits it straight to short midwicket. Spat his gum in disgust with himself as he walks off. 149/4
64.2 to HMRKB Herath, top edge, and AB runs towards square leg from slip and makes it look easy. Loopy delivery, well outside off. Herath chose the wrong shot, looking to sweep it instead of driving it away and perishes. 190/8
