Robert Turner is an accomplished wicketkeeper who is surpisingly agile for such a tall man. He joined Somerset after captaining Cambridge, and British Universities in 1991. Also a reliable batsman, he topped 1000 runs in 1997 and 1999, but has been unlucky to be continually overlooked by national selectors - his highest honour was being picked for the A tour to Bangladesh and New Zealand in 1999-2000. He remained oen of the most consistant wicketkeeper-batsmen on the county circuit until he was moved aside by the young brigade coming through at Taunton. He retired during the 2005 season.
