Louis van der Westhuizen is another of the young breed of Namibian players who returned from the 2006 Under-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka with his reputation enhanced. He is a slow left-arm spinner who topped the team's bowling averages in the competition, taking six wickets at 25.16, including a haul of 3 for 34 against the hosts. He also opened the batting throughout the tournament. He was one of the outstanding players in the qualifiers for that competition: his 113 against Papua New Guinea ensured qualification, while he also collected nine wickets in the five matches. He has played only a handful of matches so far but is expected to push for a regular place in the coming years.
