After breaking into the South African ODI team against Pakistan in 2007 and bowling her 10 overs for just 16 runs, it became clear that Sunette Loubser, the Boland captain, was a spinner with good control who would be a useful asset to the national side.

This was confirmed when she was one of the stars during their one-off Test against the Netherlands taking 5 for 39 in the first innings, bowling 40.3 overs, and collected a further three second time round to help her team to their first Test victory.

Loubser took 11 wickets in five games (three of which were ODIs) in South Africa's victorious campaign at the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifiers in February 2008.
