His 78 and 43 against Kenya were key to Ireland winning the Intercontinental Cup Final in 2005 and he continued his love affair with the tournament in February 2007 when, against UAE in a must win game his 157 was part of a competition record partnership of 360 with Eoin Morgan that set up a crushing win and put them in the final. He still struggled with the bat during Ireland's campaign in the 2007 World Cup, though he chipped in with five wickets.
