She may be small, but Amita Sharma's bowling is perfectly formed: with a beautiful action, she can swing the ball both ways. She first played for India in 2002, and soon established herself as an integral member of the side, and now spearheads the bowling attack. Polished performances in the 2005 World Cup in South Africa - she took 13 wickets - helped her side into the final, where they faced the formidable Australia who were just too good for them. Sharma got her best ODI figures in the Quadrangular tournament in Chennai in February 2007 when she took 4 for 16 and led India to an eight-wicket victory against England. She plays her domestic cricket for Northern Railway.
