Fall of wickets: 1-1 (Dean Elgar, 1.4 ov), 2-20 (Sarel Erwee, 9.3 ov), 3-36 (Aiden Markram, 18.2 ov), 4-37 (Rassie van der Dussen, 18.6 ov), 5-52 (Temba Bavuma, 28.6 ov), 6-85 (Zubayr Hamza, 42.5 ov), 7-88 (Kyle Verreynne, 46.1 ov), 8-88 (Kagiso Rabada, 46.5 ov), 9-88 (Glenton Stuurman, 46.6 ov), 10-95 (Duanne Olivier, 49.2 ov)

28.6 to T Bavuma, that's a soft dismissal. Very soft. Floated up full on the pads, Bavuma gets forward and tamely flicks in the air to mid-wicket, that is a dolly to Conway and Southee takes his first in the opening over after lunch. 52/5
1572371.53793000
1.4 to D Elgar, gone, that's a little loose from Elgar! Full now, pitching on or around off stump and then nipping away off the deck. Not quite a half-volley, and Elgar takes on the drive. He plays a long way in front of his body, and nicks thickly to Southee, who completes an excellent catch diving to his left at third slip. Elgar was aiming through mid-off, I think, and he possibly expected some swing back into him. 1/1
18.2 to AK Markram, got him, finds the edge with away seam! Or has he? Markram has reviewed this... Back of a length close to off stump, and Markram goes for his favourite back-foot punch, but away movement and a bit of extra bounce foil him. Has the ball taken his edge, though? Ultra Edge suggests that yes, it certainly has. Big spike. I guess he didn't feel it. 36/3
18.6 to HE van der Dussen, got him, Henry is on fire here! Another terrific delivery, angling in towards off stump, on a good length, and he gets it to straighten off the deck. van der Dussen is stuck in an awkward position, playing the initial angle, and he gets squared up and the thick edge flies quickly to Southee tumbling to his right at third slip. 37/4
42.5 to Zubayr Hamza, got him, Henry gets his fourth! Hamza had looked so good, and now he pokes fatally at a rising ball outside off. Back of a length in the corridor, and the pace and bounce on this surface do the trick again. No real footwork, just an angled-bat push, and Blundell takes the edge over his right shoulder. 85/6
46.1 to K Verreynne, big appeal for lbw as Verreyne misses a flick. Not given, and New Zealand have asked for another review... Quite full, and it strikes him just on the knee roll. Doesn't get a stride forward at all. Was it sliding down leg? No! Hawkeye says it's crashing into leg stump, and that's Henry's fifth of the innings. His first five-wicket haul in Test cricket.. 88/7
46.5 to K Rabada, six-fer! Superb bowling from Henry. Back of a length in the corridor, and Rabada pokes at it with no footwork. The last two balls swung into him. This one just holds its line and grabs the outside edge. 88/8
46.6 to GA Stuurman, got him, three in the over! Unplayable stuff from Henry, this. Back of a length, angling in towards off stump and nipping away dangerously. Stuurman's feet don't go anywhere, and the movement squares him up and finds the edge through to Blundell. The right thumb rather than the outside edge, in fact. 88/9
1141911.72552000
9.3 to SJ Erwee, got him, that's a terrific delivery! Bounce from the shorter side of a length, and it's angling across but finishing very, very close to off stump, so Erwee has to play a defensive shot. Could he have left it on length? Maybe. As it happens, he edges it straight into the lap of first slip. 20/2
9.221111.17480000
49.2 to D Olivier, and that's that. South Africa are bowled out for 95. What a bowling display. Wagner ends it with a wide-ish length ball, inviting the drive away from the body. Olivier goes for it, and only manages a thick edge to second slip. 95/10

53.3 to N Wagner, what a way to get out! On 49 that too! Full, angling into the stumps, and Wagner times his flick incredibly well, but too well given that deep square leg is out on the boundary. Picks out the fielder, and lets out a roar of anguish even before he's completed the straightforward catch. 191/4
100.6 to TG Southee, gone, finally. Erwee takes a difficult chance to end this incredibly bizarre over. Back of a length again, and Southee clears his front leg and looks to slap it over mid-off. Ends up hitting high on the bat and ballooning high in the sky, and Erwee backtracks from extra-cover and takes it with both hands over his head, managing to hold on to the ball while falling backwards. 388/9
29512414.2711812310
67.2 to DJ Mitchell, maiden Test wicket for Stuurman. He punches the air and roars in delight. Full outside off, Mitchell drives and edges behind, sharp catch to Elgar at first slip who takes it near his face reverse-cupped, that was flying and Elgar cupped it well. Seems to indicate that he was surprised at how quickly the ball came to him. South Africa with a wicket right after lunch. 239/5
29.539623.211319001
11.4 to WA Young, Jansen strikes in his opening over. He did this repeatedly against India in his debut series and does the same here. Angled away on a good length just outside off, Young gets a feather on the back foot, clear nick and South Africa have their first - they are delighted. 18/1
117.5 to TA Blundell, Elgar takes the review for a caught behind. Has Blundell edged this? Yes he has. What a way to go. And what a review too. Heartbreak for Blundell, length ball outside off, Blundell looks to defend but takes a thin feather through to the keeper. The South Africans were not too keen but Elgar just went up after he appealed and was not given. UltraEdge shows up the edge and the innings is over. 482/10
21110034.768514011
18.6 to TWM Latham, 130.6kph, knocked him over! Top of off. Olivier with a superb over and caps it off with a wicket. Scrambled seam incoming delivery, full and angled in, Latham drives but it misses the edge and moves away that tiny bit before it hits the top of off. That's a lovely ball and a deserved wicket for Olivier. 36/2
36.1 to DP Conway, Olivier gets Conway to drag one back on. From round the wicket, the in-angler on a scrambled seam, Conway defends with an angled bat and the inside-edge clatters onto the stumps. Similar to the way he got out in one of the recent Tests against Bangladesh at home. South Africa strike with Nelson on the scoreboard. 111/3
77.1 to HM Nicholls, gone! Finally Nicholls is out. Olivier with the wicket. Sucks Nicholls into a drive outside off to a full ball, but the batter edges it behind and safely held at 2nd slip. A fine innings comes to an end and Olivier is all smiles. 273/6
802723.37323000
90.6 to C de Grandhomme, CDG holes out. The move to bring Markram into the attack has worked, tossed up and CDG cannot resist, comes down but does not time it well, Jansen comes forward from long-on and holds on. First Test wicket for Markram and that's a relief for the visitors. 349/7
96.2 to KA Jamieson, flighted ball outside off, and Markram's got his second! Jamieson looks to free his arms and hit down the ground, but he doesn't get hold of this at all. Rabada shuffles a few steps backwards from mid-off, and takes a straightforward catch. 368/8

0.2 to SJ Erwee, gone 2nd ball! Erwee has a word with Elgar and walks off. Does not even want to review. Southee with the celebrappeal and Gaffaney agrees. What a bad start for South Africa. Length ball which swings in towards middle, rushes past the defence and raps Erwee right in front, plumb LBW. Erwee probably knew he was dead and did not waste the review. His debut match ends in a duck. Ball-tracker shows it to be clipping the bails, but would still have stayed out. 0/1
4.1 to AK Markram, wow! South Africa are 4/3. Southee and New Zealand on fire and it's Mitchell at first slip. He has hands like buckets. Never going to drop that. Short of a length on off and middle, Markram is squared up on the back foot defence, the bat comes down at an angle, towards mid-wicket, thick edge flies low to Mitchell who takes it comfortably. Perfect Test-match line and length and South Africa have no answers. 4/3
29.5 to K Verreynne, 200th Test wicket in New Zealand for Southee, and you'd say this was coming. Verreyne has been playing away from his body quite a bit over the last few overs, and he does so again to a back-of-a-length ball swinging away outside off. Stabs at it with an angled bat, and the thick edge flies quickly to the right of third slip, where de Grandhomme moves alertly and makes the catch look simpler than it probably is. 91/7
33.1 to K Rabada, and the change of angle brings instant reward. Southee bowls a full inswinger, coming in towards off stump. Rabada attempts another drive without really getting his weight forward, and the ball pops up off the inside half of the bat to Jamieson, who takes a superb low catch tumbling forward at mid-on. 97/8
41.4 to GA Stuurman, big celebrappeal for lbw as Southee beats the stuck-in-cement Stuurman with what I suspect is the three-quarter-seam nip-backer. Past the inside-edge of his hurried defensive jab and into the back pad. Not given, and New Zealand have reviewed... It's hit his back leg in line with middle stump, and it's crashing into leg stump according to Hawkeye! Five for Southee, and an utterly clinical win for New Zealand. 111/10
1143222.90534000
3.3 to D Elgar, Henry has Elgar again. Henry fist-pumps and roars in delight. Scrambled seam angled in full, Elgar pushes at it, the thick edge is easily held by Blundell. Was Elgar playing for the angle? Was he worried about his off-stump? He could've left that alone but played at it and edged it. First innings | Over the wicket. Second | Round the wicket. Elgar has a poor game with the bat. 2/2
9.2 to HE van der Dussen, bowled him, what a start Henry has made! It would seem that van der Dussen may have been late getting onto the front foot here. Full length, a bit of nip back in off the seam, and van der Dussen, pressing half-forward to defend, leaves a gap between bat and pad for the ball to sneak through. 34/4
602414.00272001
19.1 to Zubayr Hamza, brilliant bowling, and South Africa are five down. Length ball angling into the fourth-stump channel, and the angle forces Hamza into a defensive response. The length is perfect, and it ensures he can't really get fully forward to make that response, and the ball straightens, takes the outside edge, and carries nicely into the lap of first slip. 46/5
721922.71353000
28.3 to T Bavuma, big appeal for lbw, and it's given! Wagner has struck in his first over with a beauty! Full, swinging in towards middle or middle and leg, and Bavuma, getting on the front foot to drive straight, is beaten on the inside edge. He's reviewed this, though. Inside edge, maybe? The review was more or less instantaneous. No inside edge... The ball hits his back leg, and Hawkeye returns an umpire's call verdict on height. The graphic shows the ball clipping the top of the leg bail. Superb from Wagner to find so much swing with a 28-overs-old ball, and to direct it so perfectly. 87/6
38.1 to M Jansen, gone, New Zealand are just a wicket away. Back of a length, slanting away from off stump, and Jansen, looking to punch off the back foot, gets a thick outside edge to the keeper. 105/9
