Batter Lega Siaka was part of the side that played Papua New Guinea's very first ODI, after they got status in the format in 2014 following their fourth-place finish in the World Cup Qualifier that year. In the next game, Siaka anchored a chase of 262 with a hundred, putting on a partnership of 65 with former England keeper Geraint Jones, who played for PNG in the 2010s.
About eight years later, Siaka starred in another memorable PNG win, making 90 in a chase of 279 against Nepal away to fetch his team their second victory in three games after they lost 18 matches on the trot over a period of two and a half years.
In T20Is too, Siaka made his debut in PNG's first match, in the 2015 World Twenty20 Qualifier in Ireland, where they finished in the middle of the table. He had a rocky start, with single-digit scores against the likes of Ireland and Afghanistan in his first six games, but turned things around on the tour of the UAE in 2017.
