Charlotte Taylor was not named in the Southern Vipers squad ahead of the inaugural Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy but was drafted in as a late injury replacement and weeks later had bowled them to the title, taking 6 for 34 in the final at Edgbaston to finish with a competition-high 15 wickets.
Her biggest weapon was her lack of spin. "She just bowls arm-balls, basically," her head coach, Charlotte Edwards, said. "She bowls with an offspin action so everyone's expecting it to turn into them but they actually just slide away from the right-hander. She does actually get the odd one to turn back [too] and that's why she's quite difficult to play."
Taylor balances her playing career with a job in customer service for an aerospace company, and was primarily a batter until she snapped her cruciate ligament playing in a men's match while turning for a second run. It forced her to bowl off a couple of paces during a stint in Tasmania playing club cricket, and her offbreaks caught Edwards' eye shortly after, earning her a place in the Hampshire side.
